Introduction

Hello everyone! I'm The Cynical Poet, although some of you may recall me by my different aliases: SMBZ1 or Nintedosega. Very original names, I know, which is why in more recent times I've been going by my current username.
I've been a spriter for years now, and have particularly focused in around the M&L:SS-style and Pokemon-style for the majority of my works. I'm no expert within this field, but I've certainly tinkered with both edited and custom spriting. It's been quite a long while since I've participated in any public forum on spriting, so forgive me if I seem a bit out of place with sites such as this. Though I have been actively involved with spriting projects, such as Smogon's X/Y and S/M Sprite Projects.
If I seem familiar to you, you more than likely know me through my DeviantArt or MFGG accounts, which host the majority of my work. If not, then you may also recognize me for a very old, failed flash animation series which went by Axem Blue's Apocalypse. Since I really don't know how to use Flash, the series was originally going to be animated by Volkain10, then was later picked up by LeoCartoon, only to ultimately be scrapped and abandoned. You can still find an old trailer for the series here on my old YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1CU55p-qD4
I don't know how active of a member I'll be, but I thought it'd be fun to revisit the past with some of you who may recognize me, as well as getting to know others.

Hiya, welcome to the site! I think I actually remember seeing some of your work so it's pretty cool to see ya show up here.
If you're looking to share some of your work you can post your sprites and sheets in the Sprites section of the forum. Additionally, we have a sprites section on the Discord server you can share to as well. Hope you have a good time here!

Thanks everyone! Glad to be here, it's not too often that I interact with pixel artists anymore.
I'll be sure to do that at some point!Rapidfir3Pho3nix wrote:If you're looking to share some of your work you can post your sprites and sheets in the Sprites section of the forum. Additionally, we have a sprites section on the Discord server you can share to as well. Hope you have a good time here!

working with pixels as an art form unfortunately seems to be dying, but thats why we're here!

Yeah, I've noticed that too. However, I feel that pixel art seems to just be finding other corners of the internet to flourish in, as opposed to being out in the open.
Back in the day, websites dedicated to spriting would be popping up all over the internet - Spriter's Resource, Mystic Forest Zone, MFGG, etc., and Newgrounds had a much bigger presence prior to YouTube.
Now days, pixel are is limited more to personal blogs like Tumblr, DeviantArt groups, and forums like this one. I'd say pixel art still has a leg to stand on.
