Okay, it's not a bad tutorial, because it does teach you what he was aiming for. To make an image negative. Though he shows you the basics, it doesn't mean you can't make this into something more advanced. This 'simple' effect here could be brought onto astronomical levels where your animation could use this and make it seem perfectly fit for that situation.

You're all idiots.
What the hell is the point of Frame by Frame animating a colour effect? It's just a waste of time. FBF is better for movements. Quite why you people are even thinking of animating colour effects FBF I have no idea. The whole point of FBF in sprite animation is to make the movements smoother. How the hell are you going to apply that to an invert effect?

simple.
if the object you applied the color effect to is moving wouldn't you wan't to use fbf
fbf would also be useful if the color was changing while it was moving
you can use tween for that too but if done incorrectly the color could change to what you didn't want it to change to.

If you're wanting the area that's inverted to move you use FBF. That' still mmovement.
To tween a colour effect is to make a motion tween so that the colour fades in instead of suddenly going from positive to negative. Animating it frame by fram is just a waste of time.

that depends on what your aiming at.
if you want it to fade into another color you would use tween but if you wanted it to flicker between colors fbf would be better suited for such a thing.

Listen here, this tutorial is just teaching you how to make a negative effect. I don't like how you're criticizing him on it.

Krieg. Calm down. It's all by preference. There is no right way of doing it, so theres no need to justify your opinion on this. Although there are the benefits of tweening. Low file size, but that has nothing to do with satisfaction, and that's important for when you're animating with effects.

LIEZ!!!! i do that same exact shit with tweening all tha time in all my vidz, fbf iz just too much work when i could just tween and ease n do tha same imoPing wrote:This is someone's topic but since you insist.
- Spoiler:
It's easier to ease sprites that way, and, for example, when a sprite jumps by tween, it looks sooooo wrong.
But by frame by frame, with the experience of spriting, and hopefully you can ease good, the sprite's jump would look realistic. Frame by frame is has become second nature to me.
Look how gay and faggoty that is, and sorry for my bad skewing.
I think THIS looks more natural.
Yeah I made that. Easing isn't perfect, and neither how Sonic projects himself but that looks more better than tweening, in my opinion.
If you look HARD and compare those two, you will see, hmm... maybe a SLIGHT difference. :3.
